✦ THE OCM LABS LICENSE
Your code. Your keys.
Most Magento extension licenses are a rental agreement with a countdown timer attached. This one is not. Here is the whole thing in plain English, followed by the detail.
The short version
- Source code
- Full access, unencrypted, forever. No ionCube, no obfuscation, no phoning home.
- Delivery
- Composer, through private Packagist. It works with your CI/CD, your staging flow, and your version pinning.
- Updates
- 12 months included. Renew when you want, or do not.
- At expiry
- Frozen at your last version. Never revoked.
- Kill switch
- There isn't one.
What your license covers
One license covers one production Magento installation. Development, staging, QA, and local environments belonging to that same installation are included at no extra cost, because charging a developer to run your code on their laptop is absurd.
Running the module on a second production store means a second license. If you are an agency deploying on behalf of clients, each client's production store needs its own license. Talk to us about volume if that is your situation.
What you may do
- Install and run the module on the installation your license covers.
- Read every line of the source. It is not encrypted and never will be.
- Modify the source for your own installation. Fork it, patch it, rip bits out.
- Keep using your installed version indefinitely after the term ends.
- Have your development agency install, configure, and modify it for you.
What you may not do
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the source, in whole or in part.
- Publish the code anywhere public, including a public repository or a gist.
- Share your Composer credentials outside your organisation.
- Strip out copyright notices.
- Use our code as the basis of a competing extension for distribution.
If you modify the source, keep your changes to yourself and expect to maintain them. A heavily forked copy is harder for us to support, though we will still try.
Updates and the term
Your license includes 12 months of updates from the date of purchase: bug fixes, security patches, Magento compatibility releases, and new features. They arrive the way everything else does, through Composer.
Renewing extends the window by another 12 months. Renewals are optional and are never charged without notice.
What happens at expiry
Nothing breaks. This is the part other vendors get wrong, so to be explicit about it:
- The module keeps running, exactly as it was.
- You keep the source you already have.
- You stay on the last version your term entitled you to.
- You stop receiving new versions until you renew.
- Nothing is revoked, disabled, degraded, nagged, or watermarked.
No kill switch
There is no license key check at runtime. There is no callback to our servers. There is no expiry date compiled into the code. We could not disable your installation remotely if we wanted to, which is the point: your store's uptime should never depend on our billing system.
Support
Support runs alongside your update window. Open a ticket from your account dashboard and we target a response within one business day. Once the term ends the software keeps working, but ticket access ends until you renew.
Refunds and termination
Refunds are covered by the returns and refunds policy. A license terminates if it is materially breached and the breach is not fixed within 14 days of notice, at which point you must stop using the software and delete your copies.
The rest of it
This license sits inside our terms and conditions, which cover warranties, liability, and governing law. Where the two disagree, the terms and conditions win.
Questions
If something here is unclear, that is our fault, not yours. Ask us and we will fix the wording.
